My Csa Category: CSA Farm
Prior to the farming season, we will collect the money for CSA shares which will provide us the capital needed to purchase seeds and other yearly expenses during a time of the year when income is scarce. In exchange we will secure the members an allotment of the farms bounty over a 16-week period during the growing season.
After three years of refinement we are excited to offer a share size that we feel most members will find to be the perfect size. For 2020 we will be offering one, “Standard Size” for $400 which averages to around $25/week and will include around 7-10 different varieties of fresh fruits and veggies. In addition to your weekly shares, we will have add on options available for additional veggies as well as lamb and pork from our friends at Root Creek Ranch in Hesperus.
Pick up your share every week from mid-June through the end of September at the Smiley Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays 4-6pm at the Outlier Farm booth located outside of the Smiley Building on 1309 E. 3rd Ave in downtown Durango. This year we will also offer a pick up at the Fenceline Cider Taproom in downtown Mancos on Tuesdays from 4-6pm.
We’re excited to try a new, more customizable CSA experience this year by having a Market Style pick up at both of our drop off sites! In the past we have picked what veggies will go into each week’s boxed and then packed them individually, which often led to overstuffed boxes and members having to remember to bring them back every week. However, with the Market Style pick up you will see a table of vegetables laid out (like a farmers market), and a blackboard with a list of the week’s items. You will then follow the blackboard and pack the items listed into your own grocery bag. Often times there will be a choice of choosing one crop or another (choose a bag of spinach or a bag of salad mix) allowing our CSA to better fit your tastes and needs!
